Mining & Minerals
Hazardous-area conditions and typical applications across mining,
mineral processing and bulk material handling operations.
DESCRIPTION
Mining and mineral processing may generate methane and combustible coal, graphite or metal dust. Dust areas may be classified as Zone 20, 21 or 22 under IEC/ATEX, or Class II, Division 1 or 2 under NEC. Underground mines may require Group I equipment for firedamp hazards. Equipment must match the substance, temperature limits and site conditions.
